Nominate a Business for the 2019 Breastfeeding-Friendly Workplace Award presented by the San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition
Each year the SDCBC calls for nominations for Breastfeeding-Friendly Workplaces that have implemented best practices of breastfeeding support for their employees in their respective industry. This award is open to all government and private sector agencies, small/medium/large business employers who comply with federal and state laws through policy, system and environmental changes in the workplace to provide education, resources, and support for breastfeeding employees.
Nominees should be able to demonstrate they have:
- Written Lactation Accommodation Policy that supports sustainability, provides directives to both managers and employees, and shows that the business is in compliance with both federal and state laws,
- Environmental Changes that include a dedicated permanent or temporary space, other than a restroom, for employees to privately express and store milk,
- Systems of Communication to make human resources, managers, supervisors, and employees aware that there is a system to support breastfeeding mothers,
- Education and Resources to train human resources, managers, supervisors, and employees on the importance of lactation accommodation and how to make and handle requests so that employers and employees can work together to make sure everyone’s needs are met.
Nominations are accepted through July 4, 2019. Awardees are announced during World Breastfeeding Week in August, featured prominently on our social media channels, e-newsletter and website, and are recognized at the San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition’s Annual Liquid Gold Gala on Saturday, September 14 th at Southwestern Yacht Club.
