What is the San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition?
The San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition is a non-profit association whose mission is to promote and support breastfeeding through education and outreach in our community.

NEW! CMEs for Coalition Meetings!

The SDCBC is pleased to announce that CMEs (and therefore nursing continuing education credits) will be available for the first hour of each general Coalition meeting starting in September 2004. Children's Hospital is the generous sponsor for these CMEs. CMEs will be FREE to Coalition members and representatives of organizational Coalition members. A minimal fee of $10.00 for 1 hour of CME credit will be charged for those who are not SDCBC members who wish CME credit. The first hour of each general Coalition meeting will be devoted to education, and the second hour to Coalition business, planning and networking.

Delta Health Care in Stockton, CA, currently has two openings:
1. Project Coordinator to implement a new First 5 Breastfeeding Program. In collaboration with The Breastfeeding Coalition of San Joaquin County, this position will be responsible for the development of a multi-faceted breastfeeding program.
Program components include:

  • A toll-free 24/7 Breastfeeding Warm Line
  • A Breastfeeding Help Center staffed by an IBCLC
  • Lactation Educator/Counselor training for 60 health professionals
  • An electric breast pump loan program for women who do not qualify for WIC

Candidates must have BS/BA in health, public administration or equivalent field. Previous experience required in administering community-based projects or health and social services programs.
2. IBCLC to work in a new First 5 San Joaquin Breastfeeding Program. This position will:

  • provide breastfeeding education and direct lactation services to residents of San Joaquin County by phone and in person
  • supervise Breastfeeding Warm Life staff
  • coordinate daily reporting and exchange of information with the Nurse Call Center regarding evening and weekend calls to the Breastfeeding Warm Line
  • prepare monthly and quarterly statistical reports on breastfeeding program services according to First 5 San Joaquin guidelines
  • provide in-services and presentations on breastfeeding issues to health care providers and interested community organizations in San Joaquin county.

Candidates must be a current IBCLC with demonstrated expertise in breastfeeding management and promotion. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish is helpful.
