YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Join or renew your membership in the San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition (SDCBC) for 2008. It's easy! Just go to www.breastfeeding.org and click on the link on the home page. You can apply or renew on-line with a credit card or print out the form and mail it in with your check. For over 13 years, the SDCBC has been the key coordinating resource for breastfeeding issues and support throughout San Diego County. The SDCBC offers referrals for breastfeeding support and disseminates breastfeeding information. We have provided the Community with over 400,000 free resource guides, continuing education (CME, CEU, CERP) - accredited educational conferences and workshops; newsletters for health care providers and a CD ROM for employers. We maintain a web site (www.breastfeeding.org) with information for both families and professionals, and in 2008 we will provide on-line continuing education with paid membership. The SDCBC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) association whose mission is to promote and support breastfeeding through education and outreach. Dedicated community volunteers generously contribute their time to perform all SDCBC activities. The SDCBC depends entirely upon memberships, conference proceeds, small grants and donations to fund our activities. YOU CAN HELP by becoming a member or continuing your membership. The SDCBC is very proud that breastfeeding rates at hospital discharge rose from 75% in 1987 to 90% in 2006 in San Diego County. As exclusive breastfeeding rates are still too low and many women stop breastfeeding quickly, we still have much work to do. Our sincere thanks go out to all our hardworking members and volunteers.
