Review of Meeting Minutes

 

January 2008 meeting minutes approved.

Introductions and Announcements

Introductions were made around the room.

 

Treasurer’s Report

Cash on Hand:  $11,535.76

Expenses pending: BF Rights Cards and additional Lanyards.

Exploring most cost-effective way to accept credit cards on our own.

Fundraising Committee

Upscale dinner and silent auction in October at Nancy’s house.

Eyla, Nancy & Manuela will chair the committee.

Advocacy
  • WBW 2008- “Mother Support: Going for the Gold”
  • 2000 plasticized BF Rights cards being printed.  Distribution plan discussed.  As there are ~ 3400 deliveries/mo in San Diego County (not counting military), 2000 cards will not go far.

Use the Olympic theme for WBW awards

Allow others to print out the cards to give to delivering moms. Nancy will email card to anyone who requests it.

Approach Medela to have them provide clear luggage tags into which we can place the card.

Maria will translate card into Spanish.

Community Outreach Committee
  • Resource Guides are being updated and will be reprinted soon. 
  • Breastfeeding-Friendly Workplace Awards will be presented October 15, 2008 with the rest of California Coalitions.

 

Please submit or suggest awardees for 2008.

 

 

 

Membership Committee

·         Approximately 35 members.

Nancy will send out thank you letters.

Professional Outreach Committee
  • June Newsletter theme: Breastfeeding and Sleep. Components discussed and sections assigned.
  • Online CMEs/CEUs/CERPs will be delayed as they will require more experience and funds than we have available at this time.
  • Regional Conference will be postponed to 2009.  Discussion of potential speakers and topics.

·         Strategic plan and SDCBC project List in packet for all members.  Seeking volunteers for all projects.

·         We have been asked to do a breastfeeding booth on Earth Day April 20 in Balboa Park.

·         Veronica T asked for volunteers to do interviews on her 12 hr radio show re breastfeeding on August

No volunteers as yet.

CEU at next general meeting

Thursday, May 8, 2008, Scripps la Jolla. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and Breastfeeding. Speaker: TBA.
