The task force is a Subcommittee of the Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Advisory Board consisting of Breastfeeding Advocates from Public Health, CPSP Programs, Eligibility Services, Social Services, Community Clinics, the Partnership Health Plan of California, Lactation Consultants, Nurses and La Leche League.

• The Solano County Breastfeeding Task Force initiated in July of 1997.
• Goals:
  1. Make Solano County a breastfeeding-friendly environment where women are encouraged and supported in their effort to breastfeed.
  2. Recommend policies and influence policy decisions that support breastfeeding-friendly attitudes and environment.
  3. Provide families in Solano County with information about the value of breastfeeding and facilitate their access to breastfeeding support services.
  4. To ensure that all breastfeeding promotion and support services are delivered in a linguistically and culturally competent manner.

• Provided training to student nurses and Touro University medical students.
• Enhanced the Breastfeeding Information Binder by adding African American and Teen resources.
• Sponsored Public Health Grand Rounds on Breastfeeding providing information on "Breastfeeding Promotion in Minority Communities" from the School of Public Health of the University of Albany, New York to over 25 Breastfeeding Coalition members.
• Completed and implemented a calendar of breastfeeding promotion activities with instruction sheets to be utilized by the members for breastfeeding promotion activities throughout the year.
