Please click here to view a copy of Pump Babies’ most recent publication. The pamphlet is a Vietnamese translation of our earlier newsletter, Early Breastfeeding Assessment of the Newborn.

This brochure was developed as a result of a November 1996 report to the California Department of Health by its Breastfeeding Promotion Committee (comprised of professionals throughout California), identifying Southeast Asian women as having the lowest incidence of breastfeeding of any group in California. At the same time, we found many fellow members of the San Diego County Breastfeeding Coalition seeking good materials written in Vietnamese.

Unable to speak or read Vietnamese ourselves, we appealed to friends to collaborate on a project to help ensure access to breastfeeding information for Vietnamese-speaking families.

The translation was done through the kindness of Nguyen Van Moch and Phuc Nguyen, and it was typeset at their printing shop, PM Printing, Solana Beach, California. It has been reviewed by several members of San Diego’s Vietnamese community including an RN who works with new mothers, several employees of WIC, and breastfeeding mothers.

As with all of our publications, this pamphlet may be reproduced and distributed. For this particular piece, Pump Babies and PM Printing should be credited. We offer it to you in the spirit of learning and sharing, and welcome any comments from professionals and the community. It is our hope that you will find it useful and that it will be helpful in our community.
